[FESTIVAL] West Virginia Book Festival
By Bill Gardner • Oct 9th, 2008 • Category: FeaturingAttention book lovers. The West Virginia Book Festival rolls into town this weekend. Along with appearances by a number of authors, many of them local, it’s the biggest book sale I’ve ever attended. They pull out of the stops for this one. Some of the books are first edition and rare. Of course you’ll pay more for these books, but all the proceeds go to the Kanawha County Public Library.
Kanawha County Public Library system’s annual, one-day, used book sale will be held on Saturday, Oct. 11, from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. in the Charleston Civic Center’s South Hall. There is no admission fee to the sale.
Thousands of books and other library materials will be available, all arranged by category. Prices will range from 50¢ to $3. Cash and personal checks will be accepted. There will be a small area with rare and collectible books for sale which will be individually priced.
The Book Sale will close at 4 p.m. and re-open at 4:30 p.m. for a special $2 bucks-a-bag-sale. Each bag of books will cost $2, and the library will supply the bags for customers to fill.
If you go Saturday at 9 you will see a long line of people, and many of them have cardboard boxes to haul their loot. Some people line up an hour before the doors open so they will be able to get the best stuff.
The festival runs Saturday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. and on Sunday from 12 p.m. to 6 p.m.
