[MUSIC] Open Mic Nights

So you’ve got a band, and you want to get out and play. Maybe you’re trying to build up some experience before landing a “real” gig, or you just want to just get out and rock a few songs without all the pressure. Here’s a list of open mic nights around the Charleston, WV area where you can play.
This is a work-in-progress. I was going to finish obsessively tracking down all the details before posting it, but I’ll start with what we’ve got. If you know anything, leave a comment below and I’ll add it to the list along with anything else I find out. No cover for these, unless otherwise mentioned.
* The Blue Parrot (map)
Wednesday nights: Electric open mic night
Thursday nights: Acoustic open mic night
* The Empty Glass (map)
Monday nights: Acoustic open mic night (Electric open mic last Monday of the month)
* Front Porch Showcase (St. Timothy’s, Hurricane) (map): Fourth Friday of every month at 7pm
* Gorby’s Music (map): Occasional Saturdays at 11am. Old-time acoustic and bluegrass jam session. Open to all ages and skill levels. Call for dates: 744-9452.
* Griff’s (map): Thursday nights
* The Pour House (map): Jam sessions from 8-midnight on the third Sunday of the month (check their calendar to confirm)
* Hansford Senior Center (map)
* Heathen’s (map)
* Knights of Pythias (map): Friday night jam sessions 7pm-10pm. Donation requested.
* Sam’s Cafe (map): Tuesday nights (acoustic)
* Unity of Kanawha Valley Open Stage (map): 2nd Friday of every month. General admission $5 (Performers, seniors, and children: $2)
