Drop the remote control. Put away the bag of chips. It is time for all of you couch potatoes (and others) to ready yourself for a fitness challenge. Starting March 23rd you can join a free training program designed to get you off the couch and geared to run in the upcoming West Virginia Rainbow Run www.wvrainbowrun.com. The Rainbow Run is a 5K Race (3.1 miles) on Saturday May 30th through Charleston’s historic East End and downtown business district. All proceeds from the run benefit Charleston’s Covenant House programs.
The Couch to 5K Challenge is for individuals who are ready to get in shape for the Rainbow Run. The program is taught by certified personal trainers and experienced runners. The 10-week program will be held three times a week for thirty minutes each session. The sessions will be on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays beginning at 5:30 pm on the University of Charleston’s campus. Participants can park in any open spot and are to meet in front of Riggleman Hall (the main building directly in front of you as you enter campus.) Wear comfortable clothes, shoes, and don’t forget to bring bottled water!
To pre-register for the Couch to 5K Challenge contact Jeff Crist at jcrist@wvcovenanthouse.org, call 304-344-8053 ext. 18, or click the following link http://www.surveymonkey.com/s.aspx?sm=QUSiZYlYLY6Cl_2bHdWkKWgg_3d_3d.
Happy training!

When did a 5k become a marathon?
I guess if you don’t run at all a 5k feels like a marathon.
Sorry about the misrepresentation, Dan. It’s gonna feel like a marathon to me. I’ve never participated in a 5K (or any other number in front of the K) before.
Thanks for your comment!
It’s gonna be a marathon to me as well, being 49 and unfortunately… smoking a pack a day.
