[LECTURE] Lincoln and WV Statehood

[ November 30, 2008; 2:00 pm to 3:30 pm. ] Dr. Stuart McGehee, West Virginia State University professor of History, will give a presentation and lead a discussion about Abraham Lincoln and the birth of WV, linking West Virginia’s economic development to the process of statehood.

The talk takes place Kanawha County Public Library in Charleston on Sunday November 30th at 2pm.  Free, with registration required.

[MUSIC] Free Piano Recital

[ November 25, 2008; 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm. ] Free piano recital by John Mark Walkup at the WV State Capitol Cultural Center Theater, 7pm on Tuesday November 25th.  The program includes music by Carl Maria von Weber, Maurice Ravel, George Rochberg, and Frederic Chopin.  

This concert is part of the WV Division of Culture and History’s Collegiate Series, hosted by First Lady Gayle Manchin.
