Ian Bode and Dave Thomas are both West Virginia natives and graphic artists with a cartoon edge. Ian creates colorful and whimsical depictions of life with his art and words. Dave creates never ending visual stories that go everywhere a human mind can go. The two have made a collaborative effort for their new show by combining their art on canvas. I highly recommend stopping in at Chet Louther’s Studio on Hale Street above “Good News Garage”. This joint venture is sure to be a revolution in art. It is a definite must see of the Charleston art scene. Chet Louther, himself, will be showing at the “Good News Garage” art space below and a percentage of sales will be donated to “The Garage”. Chet paints large sublime landscapes and sculpts in clay. This is all happening on Friday and Saturday, March 13th and 14th at 223 ½ Hale Street from 6 to 9 pm.

Owen Smith will be performing on March 2, 2009 at the University of Charleston. In Smith’s recent comedy special he stated, “I’ve been doing comedy for fifteen years and I’m still anonymous.” His name may not be famous yet, but his work is. He’s been featured on Comedy Central’s Premium Blend and the movie “When a Stranger Calls”. Although, he’s probably most well known for his work on the hit TV sitcom with Chris Rock, “Everybody loves Chris”. He has even been a competitor on Star Search!

Check out this funny guy on his website, www.owensmithlive.com, but better yet…See him live at UC on Monday night!

March 2nd 9:30 PM
General admission is $5. (Free for UC students with valid ID)
