[ December 6, 2008; 7:30 pm to 9:00 pm. ] The Charleston-based all-female vocal ensemble womanSong presents their holiday concert, Season of Dreams, featuring the complete Vivaldi’s Gloria with orchestra, along with spirituals, Russian carols, and other holiday favorites.  The concert is Saturday, December 6, 2008, 7:30 p.m. at Christ Church United Methodist in downtown Charleston.

[ December 27, 2008; 7:30 pm to 10:30 pm. ] In town for the holidays?  There’s still plenty going on, including Hank Williams tribute concert, from the Woody Hawley Concert Series at the Clay Center, Saturday December 27th at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $15 for adults and $10 for seniors and students.

[MUSIC] Free Piano Recital

[ November 25, 2008; 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm. ] Free piano recital by John Mark Walkup at the WV State Capitol Cultural Center Theater, 7pm on Tuesday November 25th.  The program includes music by Carl Maria von Weber, Maurice Ravel, George Rochberg, and Frederic Chopin.  

This concert is part of the WV Division of Culture and History’s Collegiate Series, hosted by First Lady Gayle Manchin.

[MUSIC] Graffe String Quartet w/ Michiko Otaki

[ November 8, 2008 7:00 pm to November 9, 2008 9:00 pm. ] The Charleston Chamber Music Society (no link, because their website is currently not working) will be bringing the Graffe String Quartet from the Czech Republic and pianist Michiko Otaki to Charleston.  They’ll be playing Dvorak’s Piano Quintet and string quartets by Haydn and Beethoven, at 7pm on Saturday November 8th at Christ Church United Methodist.

October 12, 2008; 7:00 pm to 10:00 pm. ] They’re coming from Winnipeg, Canada; New York; Austin, Texas; LA; Decatur, Georgia; and Huntington, West Virginia.  They’re coming to compete and to sing their music for you.  They are the finalists of the Mountain Stage NewSong Contest, sponsored by the Folk Alliance.
The finalists will perform Saturday October 11, 7:30pm, at Cultural Center Theater in Charleston.
